Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My high school is located in New York. It is a high poverty, high-needs high school in dire need of resources and help.

Last year students asked to read Push. This year with budget cuts we do not have enough copies of the text to give to students. These cuts have devastated the opportunity for the students to read this classical novel. Also with the newly released film this will spark student interest to read this book.

With your help my students will have enough copies to engage in a college preparatory activity with the novel. Students will write critical analysis papers, writing citations in MLA which is required in college. They will also read a novel that has impacted American literature to the extreme.

Please help us and help me teach my students the importance of the power of the word. The word found in great novels. This novel will inspire my students to tackle the great issues which we are faced with as a nation today. Students will learn about themselves and issues of self esteem.
