Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My wonderful classroom consists of 30 brilliant students, four of my students are English language learners and five of which receive special services. We are a talented bunch with many athletes, artists, and musicians!

My goal for the end of this year is to bring the joy of art into our classroom.

This year has been focused on building relationships and trust within our classroom. My student's greatest needs were building up their confidence within themselves. With us reaching the end of the year, I want to use art within our classroom to help them express their creativity. I plan on teaching multiple art lessons and connecting them cross-curricularly to help them connect with our daily lessons. I know this will enrich their lives and bring so much joy into our classroom.

Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars where expectations are the same every day and basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.

The supplies from this project will help us with multiple future projects including art projects, science fair projects, and history projects. I am excited to help my students connect more with their learning.
