This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember when you found that one book that turned you on to reading? Every student deserves access to good books!

Our elementary school is made up of almost 500 kindergarten through sixth grade students, many are low income or English second language, but all are bright, talented, and wonderful kids.

There are kids that are avid readers and I need new, current titles to challenge and entertain them. Many are struggling or reluctant readers so easy chapter books and graphic novels help them to be successful. The joy and excitement on their faces when I bring out new books is priceless!

My Project

Because of the school budget cuts, we are not getting any funds to purchase library materials. Many of our books are old and falling apart. Our students love the library and love books. We need new books that will appeal to the kids and help them become lifelong readers.

Reading is essential for students to be successful in school and in life.

The library is where they can find that one book that will turn them on to books and help them to become lifelong readers.
