My Students

PS 130 is a Title One school in Kensington/Windsor Terrace neighborhood in Brooklyn. Many students come from low income households and are unable to purchase their own supplies. Our classroom is an ICT, compromised of both general education and special education students. They are incredibly excited to be back in the classroom this year after a majority were remote learning last year.

My Project

Our students will have the opportunity to engage with interesting and exciting fiction texts! Students will have a chance to read fiction books to refine their reading and comprehension skills, to increase their reading stamina and raise their reading levels over time. These amazing books will also give students a chance to engage their imagination and apply it in their own writing! There are many opportunities for the students to practice writing their own books over the course of the year. The books will be great in a class reference point for them. The books will also be read during independent reading time and taken home to ensure all students have access to great books, which some might not have the opportunity to otherwise!
