Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

When I think of the start of school it reminds me of shopping around for gas. Should I go to Exxon or Chevron, should I get regular or super, or should I use half the money or all the money? When trying to prepare for the opening of school this is what the decisions are like. Should I buy crayons, should I buy scissors, or should I wait on the parents to do buy them. I am a 5th Grade Math teacher in TX. My school is located in a low income neighborhood where parental volunteers are very rare and there is no PTO where extra funds come from. It is very hard to continue to go to my principal and ask for supplies knowing we don't have a lot of money. I am asking Donors Choose to help me have a great year again. I am proud to say with all the great supplies and materials I received last year, my students math scores were very impressive. I would love to outdo myself this year. In order to do that, I would like to order supplies that would make my class run smoother. Pens, pencils, crayons, and ink are supplies that are used the most in my classroom. Not a day goes by that I have to have students sign their name to check out one of these items. My classroom will run much smother if I had an abundance of the items and students knew there would be no excuses for not completing work. So please make my classroom 2/4 full by purchasing pencils, pens, crayons, and ink. Thanks!
