My Project

Hello! I am a first year teacher in need to start my classroom library. I am looking for books to help my students understand social justice and diversity. I selected books that will guide our conversations of impacts of racism, sexism, and classism. Books can be used as a window (a way to see into other peoples lives) or a mirror (a representation of yourself). I am hoping that with the books I have selected, students will be able to use these books as window and mirror tools. These books underlie my philosophy of education as a way enhance activism in students own communities and a way to teach about identity. I am hoping that these books can inspire students to become active participants in their own communities.

By donating to our classroom library and helping fund these books, you will not only be supporting our classroom conversations of inclusivity, you will ultimately be supporting students in fighting for justice and dream for a better future.

Literature can make a positive impact on students mindsets. With these books, I am hoping to supply my students with the tools to analyze current structures of oppressions and fight for justice in our local community of Los Angeles. I truly need your support in inspiring my future students.
