My Students

Imagine the world at your fingertips. Having iPads in the classroom would be the ideal opportunity to merge the kids' technology driven lives with literacy and science instruction. They would add an element of excitement and ownership, as the applications are all student led.

We have a lively group of fifth grade students.

We've seen an excitement and a passion for learning that carries over into all content areas. For the first time, our fifth grade students switch classes for each subject, simulating a middle school style. That said, these iPads would touch several classes of students. Audubon school has prided itself on encouraging students to be themselves and express their unique strengths. The iPads would provide an additional means of differentiating our daily instruction to meet the needs of a variety of learners.

My Project

Aside from being a source for internet and word processing, there are a number of education-based apps that can be downloaded for use in the classroom. Moreover, applications are updated frequently, ensuring that our students are always using the most current resources. Some of the applications we have reviewed and have interest in follow. Dictation app-allows students to speak their ideas into notes Idea Sketch app-allows students to draft graphic organizers that organize ideas Easy Chart app-allow students to organize data into pie charts, bar graphs, and other data tables ABC Pocket Phonics app- students can speak, trace, write, and hear sounds. Shake and Spell Pro app- students can participate in Scrabble like games for spelling and vocabulary strengthening Speak app- allows students to listen to audio books

Aside from offering students the opportunity to explore the latest technology, we are reinforcing how instruction from school can be used in daily life.

The iPads will give relative meaning to students who may not be as engaged in standard practice.
