My Students

My fifth-grade students are in an ICT class in New York City. My students have various learning styles and needs. They are polite, happy, and eager to learn. Our location allows us to be close to the richly diverse culture of the New York City while enjoying peaceful views of frolicking deer behind the school yard.

The children are happy to be back together and in school with their teachers.

They have been resilient and flexible learners over the past few years. Although they have missed out some regular activities due to the many restrictions as a result of the pandemic they are embracing all that we do.

It is our goal to keep them excited, engaged, and learning. Along with building their reading and writing skills, math, measuring, science, social studies and many other exciting things, they will be learning to self-assess and reflect on their own work in order to understand their learning goals, progress, and how they can achieve their goals. We are building independent learners.

My Project

This project will build confidence. Painting is calming and requires students to listen and follow directions. It also lets them be creative.

Students are proud of themselves when they create.

Creativity is learning. We will be painting as a class using acrylic on canvas. They will learn to mix colors to make different colors and shades of colors. They will build their listening skills.

Also, in this project are class tools that will help them with all academic subjects. For example; highlighters will be used for a variety of instruction such as annotating. Dry erase markers and erasers are used on a daily basis for math practice.
