This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are elementary school students, coming from diverse backgrounds with over 89% of our students receiving free lunch. These students are hard-working and highly motivated. We are a high-needs, high poverty population with an enthusiasm for life that finds that fun games and outdoor activities serve as the gateway to express their creativity and abilities.

My students love games and activities that are hands-on, active, and engaging.

In physical education class, we are often trying to find new ways to incorporate engaging activities that give students the opportunity to work together and develop skills of teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

My Project

Students in our elementary school come to school with a passion for learning, sometimes with situations going on outside of school that no elementary student should have to deal with. There are some days in school when students are off-task, a lot of times because they are having trouble coping with something going on in their life, or because they are not engaged. There are other days in school that are so engaging and so much fun that students are able to forget about anything else going on in their lives, and get a chance to be kids and have fun. One of those days for our students is field day.

I am sure when you hear the words, "field day," numerous positive memories of your childhood come to mind.

For me personally, I remember being with friends, getting soaked with water balloons and sprinklers, fun relay races, and working together in relay races with my classmates. The day was filled with so much excitement, positivity, and friendship.

The donations to this project will help my students have one of the best days of their lives. The Egg and Spoon Race, 3 legged bands, and sacks will allow our students to have awesome relay races. The corn hole set and quarterback touchdown set will give students a chance to play fun accuracy games and work together as a team. And finally, the sprinklers, water balloons and launcher, pool, and sponges will be a fun way to cool our kids off! With the materials, we will be able to get wet and stay cool, work together as a team, and play fun and engaging games for the outdoors. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
