My Project

As a school social worker in an elementary school, I often find students who need tools to stay focused, engaged, and connected to their classroom, and with adults who can help.

Fidgets provide opportunities for sensory exploration, development of mindfulness practice, increasing student stamina in the classroom, and building student self-esteem and confidence as their frustration tolerance grows.

By teaching students to use tools such as putty, spinning rings, or sensory stickers, their ability to stay focused and engaged in learning increases. Having the autonomy to choose their preferred tool further builds self-awareness and confidence.
