My Project

The students on my roster participate in a hybrid personalized learning program. While part of their studies take place at home, we met regularly for homeroom, to review and work on assignments, and to participate in center classes and other activities. The beauty of this program is that I can meet each of my student's individual needs in a personalized way, working with them through their academic and social-emotional needs.

Providing my students with fidgets and incentives will help support their mental and emotional well-being during times of high anxiety such as during test-taking, and encourage them during our homeroom activities.

Fidgets such as calming strips, marble grips, and bubble poppers give students an opportunity to move their hands and engage their sensory system during times of high anxiety and stress. By engaging their sensory system in positive ways, they are able to calm their nervous system and bring their mind back into focus. A portion of the fidgets will be kept in the classroom and made available for all students while the rest of the fidgets will be provided to students as incentive prizes.

Erasable pens, puzzle erasers, and novelty pens will also be provided to students as incentive prizes for our homeroom activities. The goal of our homeroom time is to provide a space that is fun, interactive, educational, and supportive of the students well-being and emotional needs. Incentive prizes that also meet these same goals will help boost participation in our homeroom activities.
