This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our little school of 230 students has made some gains academically over the past years with the small budget we receive. We are often overlooked because we are so tiny. Our school's budget covers supplies and not much else.

We are an example of a working community of students, faculty, parents, and staff all working together for student academic success.

Our hope is that many of our students will continue to maximize learning and go to college with the needed tools to succeed in life. Whenever they are able to learn about the technology (21st Century Skills) it demonstrates their enthusiasm to learn grows.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of lap desks, fidget bands, and balance balls to provide alternative seating. As a teacher I understand that my students need to move. While I try to get my students moving in class, sometimes it is not an easy task. In order to foster active listeners and learners, I want to keep them moving with a variety of lap desks, fidget bands, and balance balls on their desks and chairs. This will allow them to rock back and forth in the seats, they can occupy their feet by kicking the band, and sit on the rug with their lap desk. This project will enable my students to be active while learning. They will be able to move their body, get out their energy, and learn all at the same time!

Flexible seating will allow them to keep focus on the lesson even when their body is telling them it should be moving.

This movement will allow their body to be in motion with the least amount of distraction for themselves and other students. I am lucky to love what I do and where I work. I walk in with a smile every day and leave fulfilled. I have learned a lot about teaching. I hold my students to high standards, no matter their background.

We think positive interactions will promote healthy relationships and learning. As a staff, we work together to get students were they need to be. In my class, my students try hard and want to succeed even when their learning is interrupted restless activity.
