My Project

I work in a large, low-income middle school in NYC, with over 1,200 students. Running the school's Peer Mediation Program for the last decade, we have gotten to the point where we mediate over 1,300 conflicts per year.

The center seeks to prevent violence, with over a 99% success rate in non-violent interactions after a mediation.

The requested fidget toys will be made available in the middle of each mediation table. Currently, the students tend to pick at their nails or skin, and/or peel at the tabletop when they're in the stress of facing a conflict head-on, in a respectful manner. This donation will provide students with a healthy outlet for their nervous energy. Please allow me to make the mediation center even more student-centered.
