My Students

Our Norfolk, Virginia PreK students are amazing and resilient! We are located in a dedicated military town. All students have risk factors that qualify them for our program. I see the sparkle in their eyes when they log in to the computer. Distance teaching is challenging, but with hands-on materials, we can help them thrive!

My Project

Please help give my students fidget and sensory toys to help reduce stress in the classroom. Some of our students come to school experiencing anxiety. We need to do everything we can to help them.

One of the ways we help students is by providing them with items that offer the tactile sensory input and repetitive motor movements that help with self-regulation.

Sensory toys also help improve attention and concentration during needed calm times. One example is during a read-aloud. By having a fidget toy, a child is better equipped to filter out extra sensory information in their environment and focus on listening during times beneficial for learning. All ages and developmental levels can benefit from using fidget and sensory toys. It's just fun and helpful for our mental health.
