Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of energetic, dual language, third and fourth grade students who enjoy learning in two languages.

They live in a high poverty area in the Bronx. My students receive instruction in both English and Spanish on a daily basis. My students love to learn and they are excited to write daily with support, so they can become successful independent writers.

Many of my students don't have the opportunity to read or write online.

My students are bilingual learners who love to read and share their learning. Many depend on an iPad or computer to read books or write digitally which often doesn't work due to lack of internet service at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school teaching remotely or blended, they are eager learners.

My Project

Reading a book daily at home will help my students improve their reading skills.

Learning from home is not easy, but having leveled fiction reading books at home that they are interesting in reading and are able to read will increased the love of reading.

My students need books that will provide them with the opportunity to read fiction books at their level of reading. My students are bilingual learners who are struggling readers but love to read books that will provide them an opportunity to use their imagination, and go on an adventure and become stronger readers.

Having these fiction leveled books at hand when the computer is not working will bring their imagination to life.
