Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a fiber artist myself, I want to share the joy of fiber arts with all of my students, and I want to be able to show the many different things they can make with a little bit of knowhow and some yarn. Though I've been very fortunate to be able to acquire some supplies to do some fiber arts crafts, I want to be able to give my students options for different craft types (weaving, crochet, embroidery) to make different finished products - baskets, water bottle carriers, bags and more in lots of fun patterns and colors!

The materials and supplies, such as yarn and sewing needles, that I am requesting will be used by 7th grade visual arts students to explore different fiber arts activities and crafts.

The cart and storage boxes that I've selected will be used to hold the materials for these projects so they can be easily accessible for not only our work during the fiber arts unit but also if they want to use the materials for an early-finisher project. The actual choices of fiber arts projects are almost limitless, but it first must begin with the yarn.
