My Students

I am an elementary school guidance counselor at a public school in Brooklyn, NY. I counsel students from grades K-5. My students are all working on increasing and strengthening their social and emotional intelligence. My students are intelligent, inquisitive, sensitive, curious and have a love for learning. My students are learning how to identify and express their emotions. They are learning coping skills to help manage big emotions such as anger, fear and sadness. The students are also learning how to manage friendships and conflicts. My overarching goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where my students' social and emotional needs are met so they can reach their full potential at school.

My office is a safe place for students to practice social skills, learn coping skills to help manage their emotions and above all explore, create and learn about themselves through play, art activities, and discussion.

My Project

Many of my students are working on learning to focus and stay on a task. They are also learning how to discuss difficult feelings they may be having. Having sensory tools like model magic and logic games at their disposal provide tactile input and assist in increasing focus and increased comfort.

Books are an incredible resource for my students.

Read aloud and discussion are a wonderful way for my students to learn strategies on how to manage different feelings and learn coping skills.

All of these materials need to be displayed in neat and organized way, so they can be easily accessible to my students. The storage containers will allow me to organize everything in the best way possible for my students.
