My Project

In my most recent years as a teacher, schools are seeing more students with big feelings who are having a hard time expressing and addressing them. The "Little Spot" book series, fidgets, and sentence starters for talking about those feelings will help our class to be more equipped for dealing with big emotions.

Each "Little Spot" book addresses ways to regulate emotions and other important life skills like perseverance, patience, and honesty- all skills we work on in school as well.

With these books, I can start a conversation and give strong examples to my students of the actions we hope to see at school with regard to their feelings and learning. In addition to these books, I am asking for stress balls and maze fidgets to add a calm down space in my classroom for students who need time regulating their big emotions during the school day. And finally, there are talking pieces and circle prompts for students to interact with one another and build community.

With donor support, I hope to make my classroom a happy space and a positive experience for my second grade learners. Not only do I want them to thrive academically this year, but socially as well.
