My Students

I have the best students in the world. Our arts academy is a wonderfully diverse school representing southern California. We are known for our amazing performances and the beautiful things that we make but what people don't think about, is our amazing science department. We are the top scorers in the district and we can do so much better. By providing students with hands on experiences, we can make science apply to their lives and other classes. We believe in a hands on minds on approach and so do the kids. I want this year to be the best year they have ever had and this experiment type will get that job done.

My Project

This is just an amazing set of labs. The one that people remember is the lab that makes your hair stand on its ends. Electricity and magnetism are just so hard to teach and conceptualize but with the Van De Graaff generator, metallic ball, and plume, it gets way easier. Kids are so excited to use it and after we do, we draw models to describe what they have observed. Paper will go flying around the room and look like snow, saucers will fly away, bolts of electricity will arch out and hit your science teacher. It really helps set apart static and current electricity.
