My Students

My students are energetic kindergartners to second graders diagnosed with autism. They have varying physical, communication and sensory needs that affect their concentration during instructions. Three of my students are non verbal and three have limited communication skills.

My students enjoy learning while receiving some form of sensory input.

I would like to buy a variety of sensory/fidget toys and seats that will provide my students the sensory input they desire while maximizing their learning experience. These will also relieve them of stress after work or during intermittent breaks from work.

My Project

Students with autism have different sensory needs or impairments. My students tend to be fidgety and usually have a hard time seating for more than 15 minutes for small or whole group instructions. They also require intermittent breaks during independent tasks to help relieve them of stress and to reduce problem behaviors.

The sensory seats that am requesting will enable them seat longer and will enhance their focus skills during instructions, while the sensory toys will relieve them of stress during breaks.

These sensory toys will keep them calm throughout the remainder of the instructional period, thereby reducing the incidents of problem behaviors.
