Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a delightful bunch. They come every day, ready to learn and with a smile. I teach English learners in a high-poverty school where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are eager learners who know that hard work and perseverance will help them attain their goals for success.

As a teacher, I do my best to provide differentiated instruction to meet my students' everyday needs. I believe every student should get every opportunity to learn.

My Project

This project will allow my students to access healthy snacks during recess time or after school. My students are allowed to bring a healthy snack from home and water but I would say on an average only about one student actually brings something that fits the bill.

By recess time, some of my students are hungry.

They ask me, "Mrs. C, is it lunch time yet?" Or "I'm hungry!"It just breaks my heart knowing that I don't have the resources to provide them with one.

We will use these snacks and water to nourish not only their bodies but their minds. These life essentials will help them get that burst of energy to get through their school day. No kid should have hunger impede their learning.
