Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of the students in my classes come from underprivileged homes where many of the meals they eat on a daily bases are eaten here at school. Even though the school provides breakfast and lunch, some students become hungry between those times, and it's a lot easier to focus on what is being taught when your stomach isn't growling.

I usually buy snacks, and treats, myself to help keep students focused and motivated to answer questions, however, buying these supplies becomes costly as the year goes on.

I would like to continue being able to provide my students with snacks and treats to keep them motivated to pay attention and answer questions. I always say I may have 1 child who is biologically mine, but I have an additional 90 at work who I always want to make sure are okay.

Each of my students has a special place here in my class and know that this classroom is a safe space to be who they are without fear of judgement. Teaching special day classes can be challenging but I wouldn't change it for the world.
