My Students

As we embark on a new school year, this one is incredibly different than any other. With returning to traditional, in-person learning after over a year of virtual, my incoming scholars will need resources and supplies to help instruction and learning take place. The scholars I serve are from low-income families. Often times my scholars have seen and dealt with traumas. Our school community is working hard to build relationships between school-home businesses to work together to educate and grow our scholars.

This group of scholars is eager as ever to return to the normalcies of school and their learning.

I ​already know this group of scholars will be the most special group of kids I have taught in my career. Building a family community and a safe place will be crucial.

My Project

For many students, they come to school without eating breakfast. Often times my students get hungry throughout the day or want to have a snack to take home for later. Before we can expect our students to learn, they need to eat so they have the energy to focus their attention to their learning.

No student should sit in a classroom hungry.

That is one of my most important objectives everyday. When a student comes into my class, I want them to be able to have something to eat if they are hungry. For a teacher, I can't even begin to expect a student to be engaged when they are sitting in their seat hungry.
