My Project

Hungry kids can't learn. That is my personal philosophy since day one of my teaching career. Kids who are hungry are often drowsy in class and have little to no motivation to learn. They often have difficulty interacting with peers and would sometimes get irritated. Most of my students come from low-income families whose parents are often busy with work and do not have time to prepare them proper breakfast before they leave for school. Some students have the means to purchase snacks from the student store while most do not. To remedy this, I have often resort to using my personal fund to buy snacks so that my students have the fuel they need to learn.

Contribution to this project will help me expand my current capability to provide healthy snacks to students along with a dedicated cart to store and organize these snacks.

Currently, snacks are stored haphazardly in drawers and cabinets (or wherever I have storage spaces). This project will help create a dedicated snack cart that will be stocked with snacks as well as other essential items such as bandages and menstrual products. This location will be called the Care Center in my classroom.

By establishing the Care Center in the classroom, I will be able to help students with nutritional as well as personal care in a non-invasive and non-disruptive way. This will allow students to feel more comfortable should they need any supplies from the Care Center. I thank you for your contribution and considerations to this project.
