My Project

As an ELA teacher in a Title I middle school serving a high percentage of English Language Learners, I am requesting snack donations to support student engagement and well-being. My students come from diverse backgrounds and often face challenges that impact their ability to focus and thrive in the classroom.

Snacks serve multiple purposes in the classroom.

Firstly, they act as powerful motivators- small snacks can be used as prizes for participation, effort, and academic achievement, fostering a positive learning environment and encouraging active engagement. Secondly, many of my students experience food insecurity, and a simple snack can alleviate hunger, allowing them to better concentrate on their work. This is particularly crucial for ELLs who require sustained focus to process and acquire new language skills. Finally, providing snacks can create a sense of community and care within the classroom, demonstrating that their well-being is valued.

These snacks will directly impact the learning of my students, fostering a more engaging and supportive classroom environment. By addressing their basic needs and providing positive reinforcement, we can help them reach their full potential.
