This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K inner-city artists are back in school. Each child has to have his or her own supplies. Some of my children are leaving mommy for the first time (still some tears until children see their teachers at the classroom door) and many four year olds haven't been to in-person school either.

I often send crayons and paper home with children who are especially in need Currently, we have crayons that are too thin for inexperienced little fingers and break too easily.

My Project

Currently my Pre-K Head Start students have crayons made for older children, not small finger that barely know how to hold and draw with a crayon.

In addition to crayons for art class I send crayons and paper home with students who need art and art therapy.

This year I seem to have more children in precarious home situations. I like to send art care packages home with these student as well as those children who are simply very good artists.

Please help my inner-city artists become the next Jacob Lawrence and Georgia O'Keeffe.
