Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from low economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. These working class families understand how hard work and dedication can change their lives.

Most of our students are Cuban-Americans having arrived in this country during their elementary school years.

Our school has a growing population of Haitian-American students as well and those coming to us from Central and South America and Mexico. Students speak English, Spanish, and Creole. They are diverse in their academic programs.

Our school is home to a Fine Arts Magnet School and an Air Force JROTC Magnet. Our school has a reputation for sending a significant number of students to Ivy League schools and to the local Honors College, State Universities, and trade schools.

Many students take dual enrollment and Advanced Placement classes. There are a multitude of teams and clubs that fit the needs of everyone.

My Project

The off season of any sport is the most important time to improve general fitness but can also be a time for athletes to bond and gain strength from one another. With the necessary strength and fitness equipment our female athletes will be able to become strong in many ways.

Physical fitness is known to improve not only the physical life of students but the academic and personal life as well.

Having the correct equipment is essential to providing a good program. Having innovative equipment allows a program to become great! A GoFit Combat Rope is a great way to bring in a different kind of cardiovascular and strength training. Dumbells and SKLZ COREwheels equipment will allow us to create an efficient circuit training system. The Spalding Jump Strength Training equipment would add the sport specific equipment that programs are often lacking.

Forming the F.A.S.T. group will afford athletes from multiple sports the opportunity to become strong and fit together. The benefits to the school and students will be positive ones!
