My Students

We are in the process of building a fashion and textiles program in a school that hasn’t had one in many years. We just completed class registration and my classes for next year are packed. It’s so exciting! With this, comes the need for supplies. Being a rural school, it is difficult for my students to get to the store, this means I need to have more supplies on hand within my classroom. I also have quite a few students who don't have transportation or funding for supplies. I don't want the lack of supplies to hinder their creativity!

I want my student to CREATE!

I want them to have what they need to find their passion, run with ideas, build a skill, and create something they are proud of.

These classes will participate in a community service project each semester on top of the everyday learning that will take place.

Sewing has become a lost art, but so many kids are crying out for a creative outlet throughout their academic journey through high school.

I would love some help growing the creativity. Imagine where these kids could go...the sky’s the limit!

My Project

Rotary cutters, cutting mats, fabric, ribbon, zippers, buttons...the list is long, the possibilities are endless!

Students will start by learning the basics and continue on to make creations of their own.

The basic skill of sewing is a foundation for the career pathway in the fashion industry. Students will learn the basics of fashion, design and construction. They will be asked to make pajama pants, raglan shirts, an up cycled project, a choice project and much more.

These supplies will be used throughout the year. Being in a rural area, it’s hard for students to get to the store to pick up items they need for their projects. It’s so nice to have items on hand for students.
