My Project

Having these Hydroponics systems in our classroom will allow students to build and maintain a real live growing system, and plant and harvest crops. The lessons they have been learning are being applied to something they truly care about and the lessons come alive in context. I have some students who have not been exposed to fresh fruits and vegetables regularly. Having daily access to these real live growing systems will allow them to not only see how their food can be grown but also to have a hand in taking care of and harvesting their crops. Every Friday will be Farmstand Friday! Students will have an opportunity to try anything ready to harvest. Having several systems in the classroom will allow us to plant many varieties of fruits and vegetables ensuring they can try something different each week. It is my sincere hope that by having these hydroponic systems and exposing students to healthy food options, they will learn to make healthier food choices as they continue to grow and learn. We are looking forward to learning more about growing our fruits and vegetables hydroponically!
