Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a supportive and an inclusive space "where ALL students can succeed"-- that is literally our motto, and we live with that philosophy every day! Every child has their own strengths and areas needing improvement, and having access to the appropriate resources are vital to their overall academic growth. The students in my class are full of life and wonder. Most importantly, they all strive to succeed!

All of the students in my classroom depend on interactive teacher-created, printed materials to show what they have learned, while exercising their fine and gross motor skills.

They require heavily modified and accommodated lessons and materials to access the skills and concepts that are being taught to them. There are about 13 students in my classroom between kindergarten and second grade, all with varying strengths and needs. All receive a combination of related services such as speech, social work, and occupational therapy. They all inspire me to be the strongest advocate for them and their families and the best teacher I can be as they work hard to improve as students and members to our community.

My Project

In order for my students to access the curriculum at their developmental level, I use a helpful digital resource called Boardmaker to create customized, interactive lesson materials and graphic organizers with visual supports each and every day. In order to produce the lessons created from the application, we need a colored printer and ink supplies so that I can provide my students with quality materials to help them visualize and connect the skills and concepts they are learning to their personal lives.

Having this project funded will allow us to house our classroom's very own printer, which will make prepping more efficient, while providing students the appropriate materials they need to access and understand new skills and concepts while making real-world connections.

With heavy consideration of the socioeconomic backgrounds of my students and their families, having printed materials will allow for flexibility and convenience, therefore increasing their opportunities to access what they are learning and meet their academic goals, especially as we prepare for the beginning of the school year in a remote setting. Thank you in advance for your donations!
