This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Donating a PS5 to my middle school autistic support classroom will be an incredible way to reward students for their Fun Friday activities. Many of my students find great joy in video games, and providing them with an engaging, interactive experience will give them something to look forward to each week. The PS5 offers a wide range of games that can cater to different sensory needs, from calm, relaxing environments to games that provide more exciting, action-oriented stimuli. This variety will ensure that each student can find something that suits their preferences and helps them unwind, offering a positive and enjoyable end to their week.

For students with autism, video games can serve as an effective sensory tool, helping them regulate their emotions and process sensory information in a controlled environment.

The PS5’s visual and auditory features—such as vibrant graphics and immersive sound design—can help students develop their focus and concentration skills. Games that feature rhythmic music or calming visuals can support students who are sensitive to sensory overload, offering a soothing experience that helps them relax.

Furthermore, video games can foster social interaction and collaboration among my students, which is essential for their social development. Many multiplayer games encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, which are crucial skills for students with autism. By playing together, students can practice taking turns, sharing, and respecting others' choices, all in a fun and engaging context. The PS5's multiplayer capabilities will allow students to bond over shared experiences, promoting inclusivity and peer connections in a low-pressure, enjoyable setting. This opportunity will not only reward their hard work but also support their growth in social and emotional skills.
