My Students

My sixth-grade students are creative and curious! They are a group of readers, always eager to discover new books, new characters, and new lands. My sixth graders are explorers, always looking forward to the next big thing. We work together to motivate and inspire each other to continue to learn.

My students thrive off of hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to bring real-life connections into the classroom.

They are a wonderful group of scholars who impress me each day. I am excited to be on their educational adventure with them.

My Project

Music is something that sticks with a lot of people. Catchy rhythms and clever lyrics help students remember concepts. Flocabulary is a fantastic site to use with students because it combines music and learning. I have used Flocabulary with my students for years and it has always been a favorite amongst my classes. There are resources for all areas of the curriculum, as well as, social-emotional and current events resources that will be very beneficial in today's world.

Flocabulary draws students in right from the start and gets students excited about learning something new.

There is no greater sound than listening to students singing songs about concepts they learned and asking to watch the videos again and again. Time and time again students come to me and say they were humming a tune or remembering a video while taking a quiz. The music sticks with them helping them retain what they have learned.

Not only is Flocabulary great for students, but it is great for teachers as well. I used Flocabulary in the classroom but also during remote learning. It was something that was familiar to students so the transition to digital learning was a bit easier. The tools provided for teachers are helpful. The pre-assessment helps me figure out the path my lessons should take. The quizzes, thought-provoking questions, and vocabulary game can be used throughout learning to assess how well students are understanding concepts. My students and I were so appreciative of the generous donors so we could enjoy all there is to offer through Flocabulary. I hope to be able to use Flocabulary with my students again this year, whether we be in person or remote, as I have seen how engaging it is and the results it can provide.
