My Students

Young girls face many issues as they progress through the elementary years including struggles with building/maintaining friendships and self-esteem struggles.

My school is VERY large with about 1500 students in grades K-5 in South Carolina.

I am one of two school counselors at my school and I serve grades K, 2, and 4. For this project I am focusing on serving 2nd grade girls in a small group book club format.

My Project

I would like to offer a small group book club for 2nd grade girls who need some extra practice building and maintaining friendships, taking pride in their unique qualities, and building self-esteem. The books I am requesting are a variety of Fancy Nancy books and the group plans correspond with the themes in each book. The girls who participate in this small group will not only practice and foster a love for reading but gain skills that will enhance their personal and social growth. The quantities I am requesting will allow group members to each have their own book during group time. I plan to run this group for many years to come so many students will benefit from these resources over time.

Your contributions to this project will allow an empowering small group book club to be offered to the girls at my school for years to come.

The girls will have an opportunity to build many skills to help them become strong, confident young ladies! My students and I appreciate your consideration in contributing to this project.
