My Students

I work in a school that serves students and their families that fall below the poverty line. Many of our students come to school without their basic needs being met. Even though my students don't have all of their basic needs met, they come to school to eager to learn. Their excitement for school and learning keeps me motivated to find fun and engaging activities for them to do, so they can continue to learn. For some, school is their safe place and I do my best to make sure that they feel safe and loved in my classroom.

Our students want to learn but they just need the right tools to help them be successful and engaged in their learning.

Recently, much of the neighborhood around our school where most of our students live, has been struggling with an outburst of violence, making our students feel even less safe than they had before. When I am able to keep them engaged in fun learning activities it helps to keep their mind off the violence that surrounds them. They enjoy coming to school to learn, I just want to make their learning experience the best possible.

My Project

My students love learning at school, so I want to create learning kits for my students to take home weekly so they can continue learning. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will go toward the purchase of take home learning printable activities. I will use the ink, card stock, and laminating pouches to prepare these materials and place them in tote bag with instructions for families to engage their child in home learning games and activities.

These "home learning kits" will make it easier for families to reinforce skills that are being taught at school and support their child's learning at home.

These kits will provide materials and instructions for parents that want to help their child grow academically in a fun and engaging way. These kits will make engaging with their child easy and fun while being educational.
