This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, enthusiastic learners whom are just beginning their educational journey. They are excited to learn and explore and I am excited to lay a strong foundation for future learning. Our school is brand new, so we need so much to help us get started. Being in a low income area presents some challenges, but I know we will rise above them and make all of our supporters proud! I hope you will consider supporting my fantastic class and I as we embark on this exciting new adventure.

My Project

We believe that our students have many stakeholders in their education and success. We are working hard to create events that are convenient for our parents and encourage them to become fully involved in their children's progress. Our parents are hard working and deserve an opportunity to learn how to assist their children in developing crucial social-emotional skills. The games we are asking for are literacy and math based games that teach syllables, rhyme, sorting, number recognition and shape recognition. We are also asking for classics such as Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Connect Four and Checkers. These games will be the catalyst that will spark interactions between parent and child enhancing language skills, as well as nurture social-emotional development.

Strong social-emotional skills are tools that a student can carry with them into adulthood.

We want our students to be good winners and losers. We want them to be inclusive. We want them to not just respect diversity, but also appreciate it. Finally, we want our parents to be partners with us in developing these skills with their children. Not only are games such as Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders fun, but also an opportunity to teach our students how to treat others with respect in an engaging and productive way. These games will be the focal point of fun-filled family game nights where students, teachers and parents can learn and play together.
