Help Mrs. Oduro-Frimpong

I teach 2nd grade in a rural, low social economic status classroom in Illinois. This is my second year teaching and I love every moment! Majority of my students are struggling with reading. Our class goal is to have all of us reading on grade level.

My parents are not aware of how important it is to read to their kids. They think that all of the reading should be done at school and that they can't help because they didn't go to college and become a teacher.

The "Read Aloud Handbook" by Jim Trelease gives wonderful information and ideas on how to read to children. It will impower parents to read aloud to their kids. It provides a list of books broken down into different age groups. This will benefit the entire family!

You can help make it possible for my students to be read to by their parents. With this book as a resource the parents can be empowered to learn more about reading and then they will realize that they really can make a difference in their child's life!
