My Students

The students in our school are predominantly new or developing English Language Learners, some of whom have no prior schooling. They come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Home support is sometimes difficult due to the limited English proficiency of the parents and families.

The students in our school are engaged, motivated learners who struggle to make progress due to limited school experience and home support.

They need unique approaches to make progress as thinkers, learners and problem-solvers. Their parents and families also need simple ways to support them at home, such as through games and puzzles.

My Project

The parents of our students want to help their children academically, but often lack the educational background to do so. We struggle as a school to engage our parent population due to their diverse backgrounds and limited English proficiency.

The games and puzzles acquired from this project will be used to host a weekly Family Fun day to increase parent participation in student learning.

While parents may struggle to offer academic support to their children, they can play games and do puzzles to help their children build critical thinking and problem solving skills. By using these games and puzzles to host a weekly Family Fun day, we hope to build a sense of community and support parents in nurturing their children's intellectual growth.
