Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of our students come from low-income households and do not have access to life essentials such as hygiene products and nutritious food. Many of them juggle homework as well as taking care of siblings at home which can cause them to feel overwhelmed.

Our students are so resilient and bright, but sometimes they aren't able to focus in class because they experience tremendous amounts of trauma and stress; I am committed to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable space for all students.

My Project

My students would benefit from strong family engagement events and resources. Many of our students struggle with attendance and truancy issues. I plan to use some of these items in a raffle during our upcoming events. My goal is to promote social-emotional learning as well as promoting dinner table conversations with the "Lets Talk" set of cards.

Families play an important role in our communities and in our school.

I would like to increase family engagement by offering School to Home organizing folders to ensure fliers and forms make it home in one piece. I would also like to use some of these resources during family therapy with my students.
