My Students
My group consists of seventeen, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed preschoolers this year. I currently have students who have dilapidated or unsatisfactory housing, are homeless, have severe trauma in their backgrounds, and have developmental delays. These children come from diverse households that include single parent, divorced, LGBT, foster, and multi-generational families. To receive an education at my center, the family must fall below the federal poverty guidelines.
All the families in our preschool will have the opportunity to come together and enjoy evenings of learning through the use of these screen free board game event nights!
My Project
Learning through play is what we do everyday in the preschool classroom environment. Reaching our parents and supporting their efforts as collaborative partners in our student's education, is crucial. While fighting with competition of tablets and phones, a joint venture of multiple classrooms within our preschool wish to take it back to basics.
It is through the use of these board games that learning and teaching families that fostering math, language, STEM, gross motor, and social skills can be fun and enjoyable!
The 27 board game options will easily allow for a variety of choices that all have their own set of skills that directly fit multiple domains each. Use of these materials will be utilized by up to three classrooms or 51 families total during Family Board Game Event Nights for years to come!
