I absolutely love reading to children. For 20 years now my favorite part of being a teacher is getting to read to my students. My students all know I am madly in love with books and the world that they unlock. I think that the read aloud time of the day is the most important. When the children are younger 75% of oral language skills come from being read to. My students that I work with aren't exposed to a lot of wonderful literature. When I realized that they do not have access to lots of books I started getting as many as I could for them. Then I uncovered this series of the Other Side of the Story books. I love getting to do oral comprehension with these stories. They give a twist to the stories we all know. We get to compare and contrast and go outside of the box for thinking! When children are read to they unlock a whole new world.
