Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of our students and athletes come from low economic households and nearly eighty percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Although we hold fundraisers throughout the year, team gear has been wearing out through the year and we are in need of new items as soon as possible. Asking students and their families to take time out of their busy schedules, on top of the other events we already ask them, to fundraise even more would be unfair.
My student-athletes work very hard throughout the year to prepare for the upcoming season.
This includes AAU tournaments throughout the Spring and Summer, 6 a.m. morning workouts, and practices throughout many of their vacation days. Their dedication to the program and their work ethic is remarkable.
My Project
Our boys' basketball team is looking to get team gear funded for the upcoming season. As you can see, it can get quite expensive. Without your donations, there is no way that we could come up with enough funds to provide for all of our players in the program.
Even with the numerous team fundraising activities we do throughout the year, without your help it would be all-for-not.
The resources we have requested are used for all our players throughout the winter season both before, during, and after games. Not only does the gear keep us protected from the elements, but it promotes our school, program, and is something the kids really look forward too. One of the best parts of the year is seeing the kids react to the team gear they receive. We hope and count on your support for this to happen.
