This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are a diverse group of low income children living in the lower part of Manhattan in New York City. My students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. The supplies needed will support students who will be learning remotely. Our school contains both general education classrooms and ICT classrooms. ICT is an Integrated Co-Teaching Classroom (ICT) where students with disabilities receive integrated co-teaching services and are educated with age appropriate peers in the general education classroom. ICT provides access to the general education curriculum and specially designed instruction to meet students’ individual needs. Our students are caring, energetic and have a thirst for knowledge.
My Project
All the materials in this project will bridge the learning from school to home. I will be able to use the document camera to capture materials and show students in both real time and recorded lessons. My goal is to share diverse books with students everyday, use manipulative to teach math. The document camera will allow me to project the book onto the computer so the students can clearly see the words and the pictures. When I read a book. I like the student to be able to follow along with the words to help them read better. When they see a word and hear it being read. They add it to their bank of words. Without a document camera I have to hold the book up to the computer. The kids cannot see it clearly. I can also use this to show them how to count and add to 10. I want to use counters and ten-frames. The document camera will allow me to show the students the math so I can project what I am dong onto the computer.
I will use the gift card to purchase hands on digital activities.
I want to make online learning just like they were in the classroom so students do not miss out on any learning. So many teachers on Teachers Pay Teachers have created google ready actives that I cannot make myself. A few items I want to purchase are sight word activities. Students will drag and drop letters to build words, they will spell the words and the same type of slides for additional math work.
