This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an intervention teacher, the students I work with have challenges with reading. My students are hard workers who are working towards their goals in reading. Last year I attended Orton Gillingham trainings, in which they used decks of phonogram cards to help students master their sounds. Part of the Orton Gillingham training talked about the importance of repetition. They used decks of phonogram cards for daily review of the sounds and spellings.
Phonogram sound cards in a large size will help make learning more accessible for my small groups of students.
These large cards will make it much easier for my students to see. This in turn will help them solidify their learning of these sounds.
