Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a classroom teacher, most of my students come from inner-city, low-income households. The student population is diverse and transient; many children entering my classroom have limited English speaking skills as well. My classroom is a safe, consistent, and positive places for my students to call their own.

This will be my 3rd year teaching after returning to the classroom.

This year I will be teaching 1st grade and I want to provide as many opportunities for student success as possible. With a classroom that includes about 25-30 learners, school supplies are in high demand. My students will go through an enormous amount of paper, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. as they practice writing, continue to learn how to properly form letters and eventually write all by themselves!

Basic classroom supplies provide students with opportunities for academic success. It is amazing to see what these little learners can achieve with the proper tools! My 1st grade classroom will become more than just a room for many of these children.

I want to provide my students with what they will need to grow, learn and become fluent readers and writers.

I hope that you will consider donating.

My Project

This will be my 2nd year teaching 1st grade at Columbus Park Preparatory Academy and the student body is always eager to learn as well as become engaged within their learning environment. The materials that I have chosen for this project will provide my 1st Grade students with multiple opportunities to become confident readers. The Level Reading Organizer will teach my students the importance of organization and taking care of our classroom library. The "Comfy Cushions" will provide seating while they learn to LOVE reading in our First grade classroom. Additionally the Listening Center and variety of other Language Arts related activities will provide additional opportunities for learning.

I am looking forward to the exploration, challenges and growth that they will ALL encounter this year!
