Fabulous Fantasy Reading!

My students need multiple copies of fantasy books for their upcoming reading unit. It is essential that we have books on every level so that students can participate in book clubs with their classmates.

My Students

"The good teacher makes the poor student good and the good student superior." Marva Collins. It is my goal as a teacher to help my struggling students feel successful in school and reach their true potential. I can create excitement for learning by having these materials in the hands of my students.

I teach in a high need NYC school with students from diverse backgrounds and many English language learners.

My class is an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom where children with special needs are educated with their peers. My students are enthusiastic about learning and work so hard despite their many challenges!

My Project

Students will be working together in book clubs to read and interpret fantasy fiction books in our upcoming reading unit. It is essential that we have books for each students on their independent reading level. The children will work together as they learn about the Fantasy Fiction genre.

I have seen first hand the excitement and motivation of students when they work together as a book club and read the same text.

These books will be used year after year in my classroom when we work on this unit in Reading Workshop. The fantasy unit is of high interest to students and they will work in small groups receiving differentiated instruction using these leveled texts.
