Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students need a variety of books to select from to foster their love of reading, encourage their imagination, and create connections by learning from characters. Over 500 students visit our school library every week and select books to check out and read. We have many awesome days in the library, but students really appreciate it when a box of new books arrives!

My students' excitement magnifies as they gather around the box of books to examine each new book I pull out to share.

My students are quick to make requests to be the first to read the book they favor the most. Next, the "hold list" starts where students write the title of the book with their name next to it so they know who gets the book next. My students know the importance of sharing in the library and are wonderful about taking care of our library books. My students also know these books were selected because of their interests and requests! This type of special experience helps in cultivating a love for reading! Donating to this project is more than donating books, it supports enthusiasm for lifelong reading! I am grateful for your help in sharing a passion for reading with my students!
