Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This will be my second year of teaching first grade in a school serving low-income households. This year, my students are extremely energetic and excited to learn, especially with reading. Every time students meet with me on the carpet, they are full of questions about our next read aloud. However, I want to provide my students with opportunities to learn sight words in the books I read to them.
Eyewords can provide my students with a multisensory approach to learning.
Eyewords align with the science of reading which supports literacy development for children learning how to read. With these cards, I can support struggling readers who learn visually, auditorily, and kinesthetically. These sight word cards can be used in my whole group ELA lessons or in my small groups. I can't wait to see how much their sight word fluency grows with using EyeWords!
