My Students

My school is a Title 1 located in the South Bronx in a very deprived neighborhood. My students are kids full of enthusiasm and an infinite passion for learning. They love hands-on, create, build and let their imagination run away. They always come to school with a smile on their faces ready to learn and give their best effort every day. For them, our classroom is the place in which they feel free to let their imagination and creativity fly, but most of all it is the secure environment to enhance their learning. Each and every student in my classroom is unique and as their teacher I have the responsibility to meet all my students’ needs. They are an amazing group of kids with so much to offer and as Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

My Project

These Scholastic magazines will allow my Special Needs students to read a variety of nonfiction titles that interest them. It will also improve their stamina, build up the vocabulary and it will provide them with the opportunity to enhance their reading comprehension skills as they read and answer the questions about the articles they will read.

These magazines will continue to enhance their reading stamina and vocabulary.

In addition it will keep them informed and engaged by reading about different topics that will support a variety of literacy skills they need to develop as readers.

With these magazines, my special needs students will be able to read new information that is presented to them in a friendly but yet engaging language. As the world change, so is student interests; therefore I must provide them with the latest advancements in education to create an interest in reading.
