Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a K-5 special education classroom in a Title I charter school. We focus most of our learning on communication and social emotional skills. My students come from a lower socioeconomic area and face many challenges both in and out of the classroom.

My Project

It is very difficult to stay safe in a special education classroom but we are working hard at it. We sanitize many, many times a day! Our students are also learning how to interact with one another, take turns and accept praise/reinforcers when showing positive behaviors. The fidgets and mega blocks would be great reinforcers. The binders are to create our laminated daily morning work. We write about our feelings and do over calendar. We also have a calm down area that needs a bit more comfort in it! My students are learning how to relax with mediation music.
