My students are third and fourth graders. They are kind, smart, resilient, and hard working. They come with many different needs. I teach special education but am in an inclusion setting with the general education students, so I claim them all! They range in ability from the highest academic achievers to the lowest. Each one is unique and special. I serve students in foster care, students who have been homeless, students who are transient, students who are fourth generation from the same school. Every day is an adventure and each moment is a learning experience for me as well as them!
My Project
In Mississippi, third graders must pass a high-stakes test in reading in order to move on to fourth grade. They also have a state test in math and writing. The products that were ordered will help with math, writing (which is a struggle for many of my students), and overall preparation for these assessments.
My students have special needs but must meet the same state benchmarks as their peers.
My fourth grade students must also pass state tests in math, writing, and reading. This particular class has very low fluency in multiplication, even with a lot of time practicing. The right-brain multiplication products will help with those students who just can't remember their facts.
The iPad will allow me to take technology with me to each student and give my students access to apps that help with practice in math.
